What is carvacrol?
Carvacrol is the main phenolic compound in oregano, the molecule most responsible for its sharp, warming character. When you smell strong oregano, you are largely smelling carvacrol.
What does "82% carvacrol" mean?
It is a measured concentration of the active compound in the distilled oil, verified, not estimated. The higher the carvacrol, the more concentrated and potent the oil.
Why does that change how I use it?
Potency is exactly why our oil of oregano is sold pure and undiluted, and why you dilute it yourself before use: a drop or two in a spoon of olive oil, honey, or water. Most oil of oregano on the shelf is already cut with a carrier; ours is not, so a little goes a long way. Start small.
This article is about what the number measures and how to use the product, not a health claim. Oil of oregano is a food supplement. Oil of Oregano, 82% carvacrol.
